Zeus looks like such a good dog! Honestly, I applaud you for fostering. It's just so hard to do. I fostered a mom and her 6 kittens when the shelter had no room and was keeping them in the back. Turns out they had the shelter and then an entire building dedicated to waiting animals that weren't listed for adoption and were fostered. We kept 3 of the 7 cats and we already had four cats and a dog of our own, so it was a big crazy house for a while there.
Best of luck with Zeus and I am sure he'll be the perfect fit in someone's family!

We had to put down our 1 Yorkie last night. I am heartbroken. She was a rescue and was with me for nearly 5 years.
She enjoyed my retirement more than me....
Her trachea collapsed and she was basicically smothering. Apparently it a Yorkie breed thing/defect.
They considered an op but put the prognosis at 10% success at best.

We had to put down our 1 Yorkie last night. I am heartbroken. Those who are not pet people don't understand that they are family members. Sorry to hear this, but for the sake of the dog it just had to be. I am currently facing that difficult decision of when to humanely allow my dog to cross over. Every situation and every dog is different, and in your case you freed your dog from an irreversible situation, so you made the right call. That doesn't make it easier, I know. Allow yourself some grieving time, and get your remaining dog(s) a playmate as soon as your heart permits. The pets left behind are grieving too.

Yes, pets are part of the family but unfortunately they don't live very long. Been there done that way to many times.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Putting down a pet is emotional, stressful and difficult no matter the circumstances. It is the worse responsibility an owner must bear.
