Well, last night I had a terrible dream, and when I woke up David Bowie was in my room, wearing a gold sequined cape-like outfit and a space helmet. He said I had abandoned rock and roll, and would be visited by three spirits:

Ziggy Stardust, The Thin White Duke, and Major Tom.

In the morning, I wrote this song about the World.

A Deeper Shade of Gray
By David Snyder

V1

I’m not black
I’m not white
Oh I know that tonight
I’m just a deeper
A deeper shade of gray
I’m not wrong
I’m not right
I just can’t
See the light
And I wonder
How it got this way

CH

And I don’t know where I am
And I do not give a damn
Cause I’ve forgotten
Forgotten what to say
a deeper shade of gray

V2

I’m not in
I’m not out
I’m just wrapped up
In these doubts
And I want to, I want to escape
I’m not up
I’m not down
I just can’t
See the ground
And I wonder
Is it all too late

CH

And I don’t know where I am
And I do not give a damn
Cause I’ve forgotten
Forgotten how to pray
I’m just a deeper, a deeper shade of gray

BR

Hey hey, are these our final days
Is the song, where it all goes wrong
And then slowly fades away

CH

V3

I’m not black
I’m not white
Oh I know that tonight
I’m just a deeper
A deeper shade of gray
