I am really beginning to to dislike this Covid-19 stuff. I want out of my house...lol

Here is some video I shot in Venice Italy. BIAB provided the sound.

I too am longing for the days I can properly travel again. Thanks for sharing this - I'd absolutely love to go to Venice one day smile

Here's how strange I am to most people. I LOVE this!! Stores 1/4 full. In and out. But I also don't:

Travel
Dine out
Go to movies
Go to bars
Do much of anything

I WILL travel some when my dog finally says goodbye, but even that will be in my tiny trailer, mostly to the southeast US with one western swing as far as central Oklahoma. As far south as St Augustine where I have family. I love North Carolina and Tennessee. South Carolina too but it starts getting hot when you get that far south so you have to call your shots.

So as far as quarantine goes, I don't notice it because it's my normal lifestyle.

Derek, Venice is beautiful. Be aware of when you go because that water gets a funk to it when it's really hot. I was there in early July long ago and it was okay, but that was a lot of years back. When you go to the Rialto Bridge you will run into a lot of hustlers selling knockoff items as genuine. Bargain them down REALLY hard. My then girlfriend, later wife, now ex #3 paid WAY too much for a purse there because she insisted on doing it herself and paid asking price. Buy shoes while you are there. Great Italian leather shoes for next to nothing. Venice has THE best outdoor market I have ever seen. Many floors with seafood that came out of the water earlier that morning. I just wish I had gone with somebody nicer, though I am pretty sure she thinks the same thing.

The same comment goes for Paris too. All she wanted to do was sit at the "quaint" little cafes and drink coffee. I would love to visit Paris again. By myself. Because of her I didn't visit the Moulin Rouge. I had to almost BEG her to go to the Arch de Triumph and we didn't go into any of the shops along the Champs-Élysées. She was a pathetic, boring, whining anchor I had to drag around every place we ever went. After the divorce one of my friends who also knew her well called me and said "Was this the day you dumped 'The Load" and flushed it?" And all I could do was say "Yep" through the laughter. And I guarantee you that her friends made similar calls to her. We were absolutely a horrible match, but she had money and was supposed to be my retirement plan. After 6 months I started thinking "She don't have NEARLY enough money for me to hang in with THIS disaster." We were such a bad match, the KKK and the Black Panthers got along better. It was truly awful.

Thank you for the explanation - I'm not well traveled at all, much to my dismay. I did have a big international trip planned for this year actually, but due to covid it fell by the wayside. I do try my best to remain realistic about places and not over-glamorize them, since I know the other side of the world isn't some magic sparkly place that's perfect and wrapped in a bow. But I do value experiencing other cultures...one day!

Venice was near the end of the time I stayed in Europe in 2018. I wanted to go to Munich to visit some friends and my wife Eva had never been to visit Salzburg. We went to Mozart's house and knock on the door...lol Well, you never know!

Venice is a wonderful place to visit. I have been there several times and if I go by car or train I like to stay in Padua at the Crown. Nice business hotel without tourist and not very expensive. Hotels in Venice are pretty pricey.

My wife's family has a house in Paris that no one lives in so I stay there from time to time. I like Paris and have a lot of friends there. Many blues musicians lived there. I use to get to play with Luther Allison a lot. I sort of watched Bernard Allison grow up. We played together in Paris a good bit. Super nice people, the both of them. Luther died in 1997. We all miss him.

When I was in Venice with 3.0 she got us a hotel that overlooked San Marco Square. I have to think that cost a dollar or two but she paid for the trip so I didn't care. We saw Ernest Hemmingway's house and I just stood there and stared at it for like 20 minutes.

Billy, when you knocked on Mozart's door, did he answer?
