Hi all ! I know there is a lot of knowledgeable guys in here, so I prefer to post my problems here.
I got this strange problem with ONE of my speakers, connected to my desktop computer.. It just started one morning.. No sound... So when I went to the speakers/computer to check the plugs a.s.o., the sound suddenly came back without me touching anything.. So then, when I went back to my chair, the sound cut again.. I went back to my PC to check again, and voila, sound back... So now, I can just go back and forth, to/away from the PC, and the sounds goes on and of.. I guess it is something about static electricity from my body? Something I guess we all have experienced when we touch, coming near an radio antenna?
I tried to check it online and had it confirmed that it CAN influence speakers also.. But HOW do I permanently fix it?
As I said, it is ONLY affecting ONE of the two speaker set I have connected to my PC.. The other one works just fine... So it cannot be the pc I guess? The other speaker system is in my bedroom, behind the livingroom walls, so I can still hear sound from there..
Very thankful IF someone can tell me something that can be helpful..;)

So now, I can just go back and forth, to/away from the PC, and the sounds goes on and of.. I guess it is something about static electricity from my body? Static electricity event from your body is definitely the last thing I would explore. A broken wire, loose plug, or faulty connection is the starting place. Do both speakers share a stereo plug connected to the computer that separates into two individual cables? I would start by pushing/stretching every section of the cable on the faulty speaker side to see if you can identify a broken conductor. Unplug and re-plug the connection from the computer. Shake the speaker, turn it upside down etc. Most likely this will be a mechanical connection issue.

Agree with above. Likely a loose connection that the slightest motion can affect.

From a guy who make his living gigging.
Rule #1: It's always the cable.
Usually it's at the stress points, where it attaches or plugs into a stationary object like the computer or the speaker itself.
I would also twist the jack where it is plugged into the computer and/or the speaker. If you hear static, it might just need cleaning. Caig DeOxit (Red) is the best product I found for that. DeOxit Gold will help to keep future corrosion away.

Are they expensive speakers? If not, this is a great opportunity to upgrade!! I hardly wait for stuff to break so I can buy mo' betta! It's also why I use a USB interface and studio monitors as my PC speakers. Those thin wires on computer speakers can go bad if you look at them wrong. And those 1/8" plugs can go out for the same reason. Which is no reason at all. They just go.

OMG, I feel embarrassed here... It turned out to be the electrical outlet, and the plugg from the speaker... The outlet was behind some stuff, and not easy to see.. PLUSS, this house is a typical Philippines construction, with all the "bads" as a result of that...;) When we walk over the floor. it can be felt in the other side of the house...;) (We live in second floor) So a lose electrical connection, triggered by the vibration from footsteps on the floor, made it on and of...
What made me think body static, was that every time I walked closer, sound on, and everytime I walked away, sound of... If it had been random, I would suspected the vibration and bad connected wire, but it was CONSTANT ! No idea why...;)
Anyway guys, thank u all for great tips and help... It made me check and double check everything once more...;)

Excellent news, great to know that you resolved the problem and it wasn't caused by static electricity, radioactivity, or generally anyone just glowing in the dark. Great result. Another happy camper.
