Hmmmm... GarageBand uses that synth, too. Do you have it installed with all of the instruments? If not, do so and install any of the electronic instrument packs, then reboot.
Tell us what happens. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I went into GarageBand, downloaded all available sounds, and I can use BIAB again! Yay!
