Two questions actually. When creating a project in BIAB which you will later transfer to your DAW, do you you use the "Start End Chorus" feature? Or do you write the song out by each bar? (I'm thinking that it may not make a difference) Because............

Then, when transferring to my DAW, (Logix X), is there advantages of copying the instruments to Midi files or Wave files? The way I look at it, MIDI is transferred quickly, pretty flexible as far as voicing and editing, and if I have to render the project I will be a wave eventually. It seem that most users are converting to Wave files so I thought that there must be a reason.

Thanks for your help.

If you convert to WAVE files, then in your DAW you are just mixing audio.

If you send the MIDI to your DAW, then you must assign a hardware or software MIDI synth to play those tracks in the DAW. This can be good because you may have some great sound synths you like to use. It just takes a little more time to set up within the project. Also, editing of the parts is far easier in MIDI, if that might be needed. Finally, you correctly noted that transferring MIDI will be much faster than audio.

The only addendum here would be to consider RealTracks as something you'll be transferring in audio as they are already recordings of real players.

It depends on if you want to use the tracks 'as is' or edit them.

Real Tracks (Audio) has very limited editing functions.

MIDI is thousands of times more editable than Audio so you can do thousands of things with MIDI that you cannot do with audio.

I prefer to send MIDI to my DAW, finish the MIDI work in that DAW and then if I want to record audio, I do that last on top of the MIDI tracks.

Of course, there is more than one right way to do this.

I agree with "Notes" on this. In addition if there are any notation changes yo a track I can easily do them through my Midi controller.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for your input.
