Some time ago I did some dabbling with using my own loops in RealBand but with fairly mediocre success. It seems to me that RB will support standard loops so long as they have been ACIDized.
I tried work with with ACID loops but RB didn't seem to recognise them as such. It certainly didn't work them into the chord progression of the song. I noticed that when I opened the loop in RB it was not recognized as such, there was no Acid parameters to view. I used the RB Render menu to export a loop from a section of a track, but that is not what I wanted. So, in the end other things diverted my attention and I forgot about them.
But, I've just noticed them again and I'd really like to use some in my songs. Can anybody please help me out with this.
Oh, it's the non drum type loops that I am really interested in, especially pads.
" I noticed that when I opened the loop in RB it was not recognized as such,"
Do you put it in the Loops folder and open it from there ? as I don't think they have added drag n drop loops into RB yet, though I think I requested that about 8 years ago.
So you want the loops to change chord say from C to D and not C to Dm ?
Yes, I do put the loops in the loops folder (I find this process to be very clunky, but if it works I would be happy with it). I assume, and this my a big assumption perhaps on my part, that because the loops are Acidized and BB knows the root and original tempo of the sample, that the loop will follow the chord sequence defined in the song.
This would seem to be the behaviour of the installed loops in this folder. But I feel sure that BB doesn't actually work on the root and tempo of a non BB ACID loops, because that would seem to be my problem. I am currently in the process of trying a few things out along those lines but was hoping to short circuit the the task if I got some pointers. My guessing is that the parameters need to be set for the loop in RB regardless of whether it is an ACID loop or not. Also guessing that any old loop will work so long as I can tell RB the original root and tempo. But we'll see. Time is my problem.
EDIT: I just took this into the repair shop to be fixed, so hopefully next version. I have just been having a look.. When the loops feature first came out it didn't read ACID loops, so I asked and then it was fixed to automatically write the ACID info to an associated file but now it's not doing that now. I requested this as I had 1000's of ACID loops and was not going to put the info in manually. I just looked at the video from the video link in the Loop Picker https://youtu.be/meaJCmJIK_M and it says that it will automatically read the ACID info.
There are files for it Dubstep - 1 rum_70_fx_f_AcidInfo.txt
Code:
Acid info for file: C:\bb\RealTracks\Loops\MAKEBT6\Loops\Dubstep\Dubstep - 1 rum_70_fx_f.wav [Wed, 16 May 2012 09:26:04]

Hi Pipeline, Thank you very much. I did carry on trying things out after my post and I successfully witnessed RB detect all the the ACID information. I'm not sure what happened previously when I tried this with the 2017 version. Perhaps doing it wrong, I wouldn't be surprised. But this is great and at least I can organise the the loops folders using subfolders. This is a brilliant feature. There isn't much in the manual about the technicalities in the reference (either BB or RB). I need now to look at creating loops in RB and exporting them as ACIDized but I'm not sure that this works in the way I thought.. The last time I tried this the 'ACID' file just seemed to get auxiliary files added into the folder. But, brilliant as it is,
Here's a video in Reaper using Biab Plugin with Loops, I just set the info manually. Once right it's just dragged out of the Plugin into a Reaper track. I can also import the chords from RealBand/Biab into the Plugin then into Reaper.
and anyone else wanting to add ACID info to wav files:

Thanks Pipeline, that has been a fantastic help. I'm trying to crack this once and for all because if I let it drift something else always will displace visit and then later I will have to start all over again (just like this time)
By the way, spurred on by the helpful posts in this forum, I have managed to get some nice loops into my tracks and the sound amazing with the rest of the songs.
Hi Jim, That's great, but its those hundreds of non-bb loops that I have which already have the ACID properties. I think I'm getting grips with it now. Note my lack of confidence here. Although I'm moving forward, just when I think I've got it something else throws me. But I'll get there I'm sure.
