I read it a few times, but still miss the Buddy Holly reference. Thank you for listening! kinda long winded explanation In learning about song writing and methods there is a lot of talk about "deep and meaningful lyrics, something personal, etc." and a number of books point to the complexity of American Pie which was written about Buddy Holly and others. These lyrics in this song are just place holders, I wanted to craft a complete song so just needed vocals that fit musically for me which I would replace later. When I previewed it for someone they mentioned how the lyrics were so profound and "what did they mean to me?" and I was "um, actually, nothing." :-) So many song writing books and courses go on and on about lyrics meaning something and several of my favourite jazz songs have just 4 lines (swing on nothin') or 8 (My Blue Heaven), its about the feeling of the song for me and the joy of singing along. have a great day!
