try these.
1. if you open up the event list window you might have an embedded volume change so you need to get rid of that. otherwise the midi data will always revert to that volume.
(this is normal midi standard //behaviour).
for example you might have imported an external midi into rb with embedded volume changes.
2. look in the piano roll. do you notice the vertical lines at bottom ??
drag them up and down. (if you dont see vertical note lines open up the roll window.)

lots of info in rb help . also a book on midi is very usefull if you dont have one, and are possibly new to midi.
btw how u liking that acer predator ? powerfull ?
i'm curious , in rb menu test audio performance how many traks does the test say ?

best//hope above helps.

Volume is a cntr 7 event and is effective on the channel till changed again. (continuous controller)

Velocity is how hard you play the notes, and will be different for each note depending how hard you press the keys. This is measured on a touch sensitive keyboard/piano by how long it takes for the note to descend to the bottom contact .the harder you hit
em the quicker they fall!
The range is 0-127 and effects the loudness of the note.
This is in addition to the over all volume cntr 7.
If you don’t send your notes from such a keyboard, or other velocity sensitive midi controller. Then a default value will be used for all notes.
As you say this is easily adjustable in notation mode.
You can also adjust it in the event list it is the coulomb following the one with the note values col 6. Should easily spot it if all the same.

In piano roll in Realband:
Make sure you select velocity in the drop down see pic (1)
Then adjust velocity with mouse pic (2)

Mike

Thanks Mike and oldmuso for your advice re velocity input level when entering notes with a mouse in the Piano Roll window.
For some reason (old age, perhaps) I don't recall the default level always being set at 100. I thought I might have changed it somehow but it seems it can't be changed (though the default level can be changed for the Notation window).
Oldmuso, The Acer Predator is great. It powers along whatever work I give it to do. I haven't tested it with the RB test audio performance.
Thanks again guys,
Cheers,
Mike
