Misha, if I read you correctly you only want the percussion from the MIDI kit.

If this is true there are two ways to do this. If you are using a GM drum kit then yes you have to delete all of the drums, kick, snare, etc, and only keep the percussion. Using the piano roll view is the easy way to do this.

The other way is to not use a GM drum kit and to use a percussion only preset. I have a couple of Kontakt presets that I use for percussion sounds. You may have to map the GM numbers to the preset numbers to get the correct sound, but that isn't very hard, at least with my DAW Studio One Pro 5.

PS - I just though of another method and that is to look for audio loops. There are some very nice percussion audio loops available and one or two may work for you. Google/Bing percussion audio loops and you will find a number of free ones.
