Hi everybody
is there anyone here playing MIDI guitar with Roland SonicCell?
SC's sounds are great, but there is something I cannot understand.
I play MIDI guitar: a Godin ACS SA through a VG-99. The VG-99 (in OMNI mode) is connected directly (from the VG-99 MIDI out) to the MIDI in of the SC, channels 1-6.
Now: if I play the guitar, is there a way, through the SonicCell Editor, to have ALL the six strings to play the same patch? And, always through the SC editor, which is the way to change the patch and having its sound (the SAME sound, the same patch...) for channels 1-6 (in other words the 6 strings) at the same time? This because most of times I have 4 or 5 different sounds, for the 6 strings...the only way is to change manually the patch for each channel, but I can't believe there is no other *authomatic* way...
I have tried both Performance and Patch mode, and I think that the performance mode is better, but...?
Thank you

I don't know anything about the sonic cell editor; but the vg-99 offers a way to send all strings to the same midi channel, thereby accomplishing the end result you are looking for. Check page 97 in your user manual, section titled "SET STRING CHANNEL"
You may be able to apply this setting to a specific VG-99 patch so that it can be recalled easily when you want it, and turned off easily when you don't want it.

Thanks Pat,
but page 97 of the user manual has to do with V-Link, controlling video-images with the VG-99. Does this setting influence the Guitar-to-MIDI function too?

I downloaded the VG-99 manual, assuming it was the same one you have. Maybe it isn't. In the English version DL manual p 97 talked about changing the channel for each string. Check your table of contents for STRING CHANNEL. Regardless of the page, I think the solution lies with the VG-99 settings rather than the sonic cell's settings
