"The Sun Goes Shinin'"

I finally got this about where I want it after years of sitting in the "to be finished" bin, with all of the original BIAB info lost. It's an "on the train" cowboy-type song.

-------------------
Gone many miles
From warm and friendly faces;
Those smiles...how I'd pay to see.

Weeks on the trail
Through dusty empty places;
Oh, gloomy ride for me.

Along the trail,
Diablo taunts me;
And closin' my eyes,
I'm tryin' to stay strong..

Chorus:
Then the SUN GOES SHININ', undermining
Every cloud I see;
I've got an angel-amigo a-followin' me..
Here on the trail.

My chosen road gets me so low-down..
This solo crossin's aw'fully lonely..
I'm lonely...
==================
Not sure what Style I started with..
RT's include Country, Hank, Strumming---Country Acoustic Bass
Midi's included strings, Harmonica

(Chorus)

Hi Tano
I'm glad you resurrected this . The accordion and skip-a-long tempo of this suggests to me more "spaghetti" rather than traditional C&W. I'm seeing Terence Hill on that horse in your picture. You certainly have a distinctive style and I mean that in a very positive way. Enjoyable listen.

btw . I did comment about "Klezmania" but mustn't pressed reply . You may be pleasantly surprised to know that this 500 year old folk music has a rather large following here down under.
cheers
Gary.

Kind of a genre-buster, pop melody with c&w lyrics. I really liked the chorus, very hummable. Nice job.

Smiling from ear to ear. That "sun goes shining" change of mood completely lifts the clouds, indeed. The changes of harmony are so well done and yet so subtle, so un-noticeable ... I think I've told you before of my admiration for your deftness with harmonic progressions. You've shown it here again. The arrangement is stellar, too - starting with that harmonica :-) Everything is amazing here ... that syncopation on "angel, amigo", etc. etc. etc. - your layered singing in harmonies ... etc.! Touch of the Carpenters in places, too. Well done!!!

I was curious what a ""on the train cowboy-type song" would sound like. I have to say, you nailed it. Well done. It really has such a great feel and written perfectly for this style.

"It's an "on the train" cowboy-type song."

Great description and what unfolded did not disappoint.

"Then the SUN GOES SHININ', undermining
Every cloud I see;
I've got an angel-amigo a-followin' me..
Here on the trail."

Shining, undermining ... nice!

Cool vibe and vocal also.

Enjoyed it!

The vocal sounded VERY processes when it 1st started...settles down after that though but sticks out a little in all the pick up spots.
The kick drum at 1.38 could be pulled back...it does mark the tempo/arrangement change but is excessive.
Lovely gentle rhythm and melody.
Well done.

Cheers

Been listening to your song three times...it certainly has a different edge. I love the arrangement and your voice. Why did you fade it out instead of giving it an ending? Bit disappointing that it ends just like that smile

What puzzles me are the chords...at times it sounds like they don't fit the melody, as if you sang in minor while playing major chords. Is it my ears or you did it on purpose?

Cheers from Germany,
Uwe

YEAH! Great description. Love the listen, Tano, and I totally agree with TuneMonger who came up with another good description:

I love how you did the vocals on this. What a cool song. Now it goes straight to the FINISHED-and-finely-so file.

Enjoy whatever happens!
