Morning all,

Does anyone know if RealTracks and Styles from earlier Bonus Packs/Style Packs are eventually incorporated into a subsequent annual update.

I've just done a new install of BIAB2021 UltraPak then installed extras going back to 2015 but the RealTracks total didn't increase.

If you installed new style packs you never had, the total should increase. Make sure you do a rebuild in the style picker window. FAST for PG Music Styles only and SLOW for everything that is in the STYLES directory. Did my upgraded yesterday and after the rebuild my total did go up to reflect the new styles.

You can also use HELP and WHAT ADD-ON's DO I HAVE to see if you are missing anything you have purchased with your package. This will of course depend on what you have purchased in the past and present.

I believe that some of the bonus paks realtracks do find their way into a future years update, there was some talk of that in threads going back a few years, but I suppose PG can say if you do buy these paks you have all that extra time to play with them, even though you might get them in future years.

If you look at the stylepicker list it can give you a clue as regards styles, For the time being I'm still on biab 2020 and in the stylepicker its showing 8899 styles (I do have quite a few of the Norton Music styles and also a lot of Xtra paks)

On the realtrack picker its showing 2926 realtracks, which will increase when I buy biab 2021.

Another small indicator of what you might have can be reflected in the bb folder size which for me is showing 172GB.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't think there was a problem, just curious.

When I installed 2021 I started to investigate the "80 New" and forgot about the Extras until today, but as I tried out various things some of the "new" RTs seemed familiar.
The RT total is 3128 before and after adding the Extras, according to PGM there are 3100+ available, so that sounds about right.
I didn't think to check the number of styles.
I don't trust the What Add-ons info, it tells me I am missing about 40 sets.
The current BIAB folder is 134GB, previous version was 119, probably smaller than your 172 because, when the option is available, there are some items I don't install.

I'm going to pose a question to the developers that hasn't been asked in a few years: can one buy an add-on of all prior bonus and xtra paks and special artists, to be sure one has everything PG Music offers?

Good point Matt, I'm sure there would be a big market for that.
Only problem I see, is if they are still offering biab on a 160gb hard drive people might run out of space on it, as that all bonus pak would be quite large in size.

I have only got the downloads these past number of years last hard drive I think I got was in 2011 or 12 and it was 160gb

If you are interested, here is a copy of what I wrote to the developers:

Can I buy an 'everything and I mean everything" pak?

This is based on a question in the main forum, but it's an idea I've wondered about for years.

BIAB regularly offers bonus paks, xtra styles, and one-time artist add-ons, and probably some things I'm forgetting. Note: I am not including separately marketed packages that must be purchased by everyone, like Guitar Star or the Pianist Performance Series - the stuff here: https://www.pgmusic.com/products.win.htm

What if you just purchased BIAB for the first time? What if you declined to purchase these at the time? We know some bonus material gets included in subsequent years but we don't know if all does, and in which package.

My question therefore is, can I buy a pak that would make sure I have everything that PG Music ever made? In a perfect world, a utility would examine what I have and present purchase alternatives for me to make my system complete.

It's all in the perspective. Do you know that the audiophile version ships on a 2 TB drive and uses over 1.5 TB of it?

That seems a great idea and if the user was only short a small number of items then maybe an option to buy them if they so wished.

Yes I did know the audiophile was 10 times larger, I have a vague memory of threads that discussed the non-audiophile users getting the audiophile version at a lessor price, but I suppose it's PG's marketing strategy.

I am missing 2 MIDI styles and a LOT of bonus styles after updating to 2021. I sent the support folks an email with all the details yesterday. I tend to stick with RT so I would like to see where they went.

That sounds like a good plan, Matt.
Either way, definitive clarification would be welcome.

On another RealTracks related topic, again, just to satisfy my idle curiosity. I notice in the full RealTrack listing, that the new batch of RTs requires BIAB2021, last years requires BIAB2020 and so on back to 2008.5.
Not sure when this started, but don't recall it in the past.
Is this purely a marketing ploy or is there something in the Fab50 or Exciting80 that will block future RTs

It's not a new policy or statement this year.

I think, and this is not official, please, that an older BIAB could technically use a RealTrack but only if it could find it. In other words, it is my understanding you cannot index the new tracks in the older program, so I'm not sure how you would select the newer RealTrack. I could be completely wrong.

I think you're correct.
I did a quick test by loading a 2021 set into 2019.
The relevant folders appeared in the 2019 RealTracks folder, but did not show up in the RT picker.

That is correct, but to add to it there are some changes year to year in the programming to handle the new Realtracks, so even if you were to manage to get an older BB to index the newer Realtracks they likely wouldn't play correctly anyway.

Thanks Simon. Yes, that additional fact makes perfect sense.
