Firstly, I'm gonna say I love BIAB. I use it all the time, and I think it's a brilliant product.
But when I decided to get into this, I called the number and asked all kinds of questions. And I was told that if I wanted everything, I needed to go with the audiophile package. Because I specifically asked "what has everything in it?" and they said "the Audiophile pack comes with everything."
Done. So I paid however many hundreds of dollars and purchased my first audiophile drive in 2015.
Fast forward to today. I went to upgrade because I could really use the new styles and tracks for 2021. Normally I call in, but this time I went to do it online, and as I'm checking out, it says "you can pay extra and get all these Xtra Styles PAKS." So I had a chat with the online person, and I asked "doesn't audiophile come with all this?" And he said "oh no. Those are all extra."
WTF?? That's why I was buying the audiophile package: because I was told it came with EVERYTHING that BIAB had.
Why doesn't the most expensive, top-of-the-line package come with EVERYTHING, as promised? And are the salespeople still telling people it does?

It can be confusing. I've had the audiophile version for over a decade, but I know I do not have everything PG Music makes. For example, I know there are some Jeff Lorber and Andy Leverne tracks I never purchased.
If it helps, there has been an improved organization in BIAB 2021 with the Help, What Add-ons Do I Have menu option. Also, on that screen, it says:
"Note that the UltraPAK includes all of these except the "(Optional) Xtra Styles Sets and more"
Finally, sometime after you bought version 2015, they abandoned the name "Everything Pak" because, well, it didn't quite have 'everything'.

Hi,
To clarify, in 2015 there were no Xtra Styles...
In addition, the UltraPAK+ contains the same content as the Audiophile, except that the audiophile includes the original uncompressed audio files. Xtra styles have never been included as part of a package (except for the OmniPAK).

Ohhh. Well, now I'm not as angry as I was, since I wasn't lied to five years ago. Thank you for that clarification.
It's still annoying that there is no "this is everything we have" package, especially since the Audiophile costs $700. I mean, to be a newbie coming in and being told it's $700 for the AP version, PLUS $200 for all the Xtra packs (IF you get it on sale) PLUS $50 for the 49-PAK...
BIAB is a great product, it really is. But walking down this "oh, but THIS is extra" road... This isn't great. What will it be five years from now?

Thanks, Simon. Sorry about the rant yesterday. I was miffed and, as most miffed people are, misunderstanding the situation. Yes, the Audiophile OmniPAK is what I mistakenly thought the regular Audiophile version was. There are a lot of flavors and it's easy to get them confused. However, I called and asked about special update pricing you mentioned, and the numbers didn't seem any different than what was on the website. Plus the "EverythingPAK" is still up there on the upgrade chart, yet the "OmniPAK" isn't on there at all. I'm trying to upgrade, and just want an introductory deal like the rest of the BIAB products get. Why is wanting everything so confusing?

It would be nice if the eligibility criteria and pricing for the non-disk based version of the OmniPak was documented on the web site with the other offers or if it was at least displayed when the serial numbers are entered.
I have upgraded in different ways each year depending on finances and what seemed to make sense at the time, not sure that has been the best strategy but personally I find the upgrade structure confusing and have occasionally skipped years because there was no real value that I could see from upgrading.
I upgraded because of the plug in the last couple of years but this year I'm struggling to decide whether to go big because I would like to get hold of the styles and super tracks I'm missing or skipping a year. Personally the MIDI in BIAB is what matters most to me so my ideal would definitely be an Everything MIDI Package.

The marketing department of PG music is clearly run by musicians....with serious ADHD. THey don't understand that giving people that many different choices makes it not only confusion, but often difficult to decide...and therefore lost sales for them. Fortunately having a great product makes up for all that.
