I do think it would look better if it snapped to the edge by itself as a default setting. Meaning, dynamic sizing with built in limit, unless you tinker with custom setting. This is how it works, unless I misunderstand what you are saying. If you visit the Settings tab on the Mixer, there is the Maximum Panel Height setting. If this setting is high enough, then you would never see the blank space. Note that you don't have to use the Settings tab - you can just hold CTRL and mouse-wheel upwards while holding the mouse over the Mixer and it will increase the panel height.
