When I was putting the backing together I knew it was going to be a song about a dog - but the words (cunning devils!) evaded me. So I carried on and worked out a melody I could use as an instrumental. It was week or more before the story began to take shape, by which time I had rearranged the musical structure, moved the key from C to Eb, and upped the tempo from 75 to 83 bpm. Glad you liked it. It wasn't until I had played the backing for the hundredth time (or so) that the phrase-by-phrase rhyming took charge.
