It is buggy, no name tracks on Utility Tracks, gave me access violation, picker is not the best one... BUT IT IS WORKING!!!!!!! CONGRATS TEAM! Good start!!! Very exiting news! I understand it is a starting point, but I kindly ask you do this the right way! You are more than a half way there. This is one of the most important recent features and comparable with 64bit and plugin. Please, please make it smooth. What is needed is when you can freeze all the tracks and it will save the Util tracks along with the BB tracks to data in the SGU without a whole lot of wavs filling up the hard drive, then, you'll know they've got it.
All that would be needed is for the BB Plugin to play instantly direct from the source RealTrack files, again without wav files filling up the hard drive.
So my stint here will be done and I will be able to move on to doing other things.
There are years n years of ideas and things that I left posted throughout the forums that could be implemented.

Hi,
Do you know if it's possible to save a style with several utility Realtrax instruments? It would be great to be able to create, for example, a 10 piece band and use the same band on several songs...

Well 24 hours ago this would have been a big NO. But a lot has changed since then.

James it is doable but with some acrobatics.
Utility tracks seem to not regenerate together with standard tracks with single press of the button, they have to be regenerated individually and they do not they have options for bar settings (which hopefully will be done at not too distant future). So, if you do not require changes at the bar (for Utility Tracks) and already have your composition laid out than it should be fairly easy and straight forward.
You do everything else as you would always do. Then, choose RT's for your Utility tracks, generating each utility track individually. Save song. Done.
For the next tune, you just open this, do a "Save As" and rewrite your chords, arrangement (for standard mixer tracks) tempo etc. For the Utility Tracks, you would have to regenerate them once, so they follow new chord sheet / tempo for the second tune. Save. Done.
There are a few BIG pieces of the puzzle that needs to be addressed, but Generating RTs on Utility Tracks already is usable feature!

As I understand it, you can go into the audio edit mode and regenerate part of a utility track that is audio. You can even switch instruments. They do have to be constructed individually. Plans are to make them work more like the 'old' RealTracks in the future.

Thanks! I believe you've asked the right question in the wrong thread. The answers given are correct if you have BIAB version 2021 and want to utilize the new Utility Tracks. However, if your request is to be able to construct a reusable Style that's a 10 piece band constructed from RealTracks, then the answer is a resounding YES. No acrobatics necessary or no need to have the 2021 version, nor do you need Utility Tracks to do so. The process uses standard BIAB features, is straight forward, BIAB has made tutorial videos in the past demonstrating the technique and enhanced the feature some for the 2021 release. Various features can be combined to create incredibly complex arrangements, quickly and easily. There's several ways to get the result you're seeking. PG Music staff have created hundreds of Styles meant you be used together so that a user doesn't have to construct a custom style from scratch. Finally, any existing PG Music Style can be modified to a custom Style and can contain any RealTrack you have in your BIAB version any you can create a Style from scratch. So, if I've interpreted your question correctly that you want a custom Style that is a 10 piece band and can be used on future song projects, just post a reply to that effect. Name your 10 instruments and I'll share the instructions how to do it.

First, thanks for replying even though I'm in the wrong thread (I'm totally new to forums, and fairly new to BIAB).
I don't have any specific instruments in mind, it's just that I often end up with songs that need more instruments than the obvious ones in the mixer. When I do find a configuration that I like, I would like to be able to save that group of instruments for other songs in a similar style.
I do know how to save an updated style in the mixer using the 'save current style as a new style' function, but when I do it that way it's limited to the number of tracks in the mixer.

Hi James, welcome to the forum. There's no problem where you posted your question. The Utility Tracks and generating RealTracks on them here will prompt replies specific to the 2021 BIAB version and to the new feature Utility Tracks. Your question is also a pertinent one to users that have not upgraded to the latest version and may choose to not upgrade this year. << "I do know how to save an updated style in the mixer using the 'save current style as a new style' function, but when I do it that way it's limited to the number of tracks in the mixer." >>The track limit in the BIAB Mixer is somewhat misunderstood in application by some users and the mixer is understood to be limited to seven tracks and the Audio Channel. The Eight original Mixer Tracks are called Legacy Tracks and the legacy names from top to bottom are Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar, Strings, Melody, Soloist and Audio and some commands in BIAB are still dependent on that terminology. Each of these tracks except Audio can have up to 10 instruments that can play either consecutively or simultaneous. It's the Medley feature and that's seven tracks times 10 instruments for a total render of 77 instrument tracks. While there's only the single audio channel, it can be used over and over again. Band in a Box for Windows: Medley Maker Another opportunity to produce more than 8 tracks in a project is to use Part Markers to control MultiStyles. These can be MIDI, RealTracks or hybrid of the two. MultiStyles are easy to create and use. There are pre-made PG Music MultiStyles in the StylePicker and there are many of the Styles that are designed to easily be combined into MultiStyles from existing styles. Any Style can be modified into a custom MultiStyle using any Midi patch, MIDI Super Track, RealTrack and audio file. Band-in-a-Box for Windows: Part Markers Overview Using either of these tools or using them in combination allows a single render of a BIAB project to have a sizable band and a very complex arrangement.
