Another method is to extend the end of the song beyond where you want it to end and then apply a gradual fade-out over the extended bars. Band-in-a-Box has multiple ways to automatically apply a professional sounding fade-out. You can either use Songs Settings or F5 Bar Settings. My personal preference is to use the fade-out setting in Song Settings.

Select the Song Settings button (1) to open the Song Setting window. Uncheck the Generate a 2 bar ending for this song (2). Select the Fade button ( still 2) to automatically enter the number 6 for a gradual 6 bar fade-out (still 2) or enter the number you desire in the Fade-out ending # bars = text box (still 2). I prefer a 4 bar fade-out.

Alternate you can use F5 Bar Settings. The normal way to access F5 Bar Settings is to press F5 on your computer keyboard while the main Chord Sheet window is in focus. You can also access the F5 Bar Settings window in the Song Settings window by selecting the Bar Settings button (3a).

One of the selections for All Instrument Volume Changes (3) is Fade Per Bar. When you Select Fade Per Bar a text box appears. You enter a number between 1 - 100 for the percentage of volume fade from normal for that bar. Then you advance to the next bar and repeat. This fade-out is more abrupt because there are distinct volume steps at the beginning of each bar.
