the advice the forum always gives is buy the biggest pack you can afford. it opens more creative routes and more musical options. i can't see myself using half the styles i have BUT sometimes i'm surprised by auditioning another style and finding one of the tracks works and adding one of the RealTracks to my existing project.
i'm a great fan of the Xtra styles discs and the best time to buy them is while the current sale is on if you can afford it. and i think PG do monthly payments if you want to spread the cost.
