A1: As far as I'm aware, there is no setting for "Set this bar to original tempo". This would make a really good item in the "Wishlist Forum".

FWIW2: Everything you've asked and each answer is true. This likely can't be done in the song. However, it can be done by BIAB - easily, non-destructive, savable/repeatable and changing the tempo is only a single event of multiple ways this feature can modify and enhance a song project. I created a test 'Medley' for demonstration.

As you can see from the screen shot, I only had to insert/append my song project, and with the second appendage, change the tempo to what I wanted, then append the song a third time to return to the original tempo. For the Medley to play properly for only the tempo to change but the song to play normally, be sure to leave the Transition Box at Zero.

When you generate the Medley, BIAB creates a non-destructive SGU song file with all of the Medley parameters you made applied.
