All you need to do is go to the Insert menu \| Virtual Instrument on New Track and see if it's listed there. I installed Reaper. When I insert a new track with Virtual Instrument, the apple plugins are there. And by playing on the virtual midi keyboard, we hear the basic sound in Reaper.
