I have BiaB 2021 Audiophile on Windows 10 with the latest update 804
When I select the style: _SENSUAL.STY Sensual Spanish Tango with Horns, there are no horns sounding nor are they listed in the Mixer. The other instruments shown in the Memo are present.
I have all 10 Xtra PAKS installed.
Could someone please check this out to see if they have the same result.
Thanks
_SENSUAL.STY Sensual Spanish Tango with Horns Genre: World Group: Jazz 30 Set#: Xtra PAK 7 Intr#: 5 Sub Style# 2
Memo: A traditional Spanish tango quartet is enhanced with a held arrangement of horns. Acoustic bass, nylon guitar, accordion, and drums join in.
What I see on my Non-Audiophile version of BIAB 2021 (Build 804) when I load the demo song for _Sensual.sty is that the horns are playing and I can hear them clearly when I mute all the other tracks, but I cannot see the track in the mixer.
I go to the 'eye' on the right hand side of the mixer and sure enough, the horn track of the mixer is unchecked. Once I check it, it shows up in the mixer.
Any of these actions will make it appear.
1. Show All 2. Show Active/Hide Inactive 3. Change the single track (Horn Section) from un-checked to checked.
To me, this is just another step backwards on the new updated track section where you cannot have the old default (pre-2021) track style show up each time you start BIAB 2021.
That needs to be an option in an future patch.
How many want that back?
Count me in.
BIAB2026 Windows 10 Pro (Never Windows 11!) WA6NCB
I tried your examples and now I have the horns ... but only for a new score.
When I try to change the style of an existing project, the new style appears to load and the style title appears but no horns are listed in the Mixer nor any horns sound.
I think there are two separate things being discussed here -
- Horn track not appearing in the Mixer. It *should* appear in the Mixer by default, unless you uncheck it. The default settings are to show active tracks...

However, when I try to change the style for an existing score, the style title shows in the info box but the horns don't load in the mixer. Clicking on the eye icon opens the full list and the horns aren't there.
I made sure the original song played so as to load instruments and manually unfroze all tracks first.
I'm not sure if it's just this style that won't load in an existing project or if this happens with any change of style. I'll go back and try other styles.
I tried changing the style on an existing score to: SINGELO.STY Singelo Basic Brazil Horns Bossa. The name updated in the title bar and the Mixer updated with the new instruments .. but no horns.
This also brought up a dialogue that RealDrums couldn't be found. This is probably linked to an issue with the Audiophile drive I received a few days back. There are 13 missing Realtracks, all drums. I will be sending an email to support on Monday regarding this.
- Are you running Band-in-a-Box from the USB hard drive, or from your internal hard drive?
- If from your internal hard drive, check the custom folder location setting in the RealTracks and RealDrums Preferences dialogs.
- Are the 13 missing drums ones like "BossaAndBrushes [Multi]"? These are Multi drums from Xtra Styles PAKs (which you have but perhaps installed to a different location?)

I'm now running this directly from the drive I received a few days ago and there are no tracks from the 49 PAK I paid for listed on this drive.
I just tried your 'Live Chat' and was told that the uncompressed (audiophile) 49Pak should have been added automatically by your shipping dept.
As examples, I tried a search of the "_SENSUAL.STY" in the 'Styles folder and the "BossaAndBrushes [Multi]" you mentioned in the 'Drums' folder and neither of these are listed on the drive I received.

These are from the Xtra Styles PAKs. They aren't 'preinstalled' on the drive as shipped. Rather, you could check if you have _APART.STY in the StylePicker (BonusPAK), and/or "Guitar, 12-Sring Electric, Rhythm ModernPopBrent Ev 120" (Set '800').
Back to the original topic, the Horn section RT#2292 used by _Sensual, is an older RT (not new this year), so the issue would be unrelated to new RTs/Bonus PAK. Is this problem now resolved, and you hear the horn section, or is it still an issue?
(On the side topic, Build 808 is available now, and fixes some bugs that were found with 807.)
I have resolved the missing tracks through a full uninstall of everything Band in a Box and clean out followed by a fresh reinstall of the full Audiophile version. Now BiaB is showing that I have everything.
However the problem of being unable to change a style in an existing project persists. My existing project uses the _SULTRY.STY and I tried to change this to the _SENSUAL.STY with horns. As you can see in the following screenshots the title bar updates with the new style but the horns are not loaded nor do they sound on playback.
As mentioned previously, the _SENSUAL.STY with horns loads and plays in a new project. It fails to load properly when changing the style of an existing project.
I would emphasise that, apart from a new, full, clean reinstall, I have double checked that the tracks in my existing project are not frozen and that the instruments were loaded and played before trying to change the style.
I also tried to change to a different style with horns; the BRASLIA.STY with 10-part Horns. Again, the title bar and Mixer updated but still no horns.
Ok ..... For anyone finding this thread with a similar problem, I have a workaround.
First I created a new project and set the style for the 'SENSUAL' with the horns. I set this new project to have the same number of bars and choruses etc as my previous project I want to change.
Next I opened my previous project, selected all the bars and copied them.
I pasted these into my new project and this played back with the new style.
I saved the new project with a different name and closed BiaB.
AS a test, I re-launched BiaB and opened my new project. Everything worked; it retained the new style with horns and played back perfectly.
Finally, out of curiosity, I tried changing the style of my new project and it all worked perfectly. I tried this a few times and was able to change the style at will.
My old project must be corrupt in some way. Now to test all my other projects and to do the same with them if needed.
Good detective work... I would be interested to test out the old project to see if I have the same problem and what might have caused it. Could you attach it using the file manager, or send it to support@pgmusic.com referencing this forum thread?
I have just looked at your email with the attached song and I may have found the issue. The horn track that you were looking for is on the same track as the piano which has been assigned as a RealTrack to the song file and is not part of the style loaded. This means when you load a new style it does not remove the assigned RealTrack and the Horns track is replaced with piano. What you would need to do is go into the RealTracks picker and click on the piano track and select "None". Now when you load the style _SENSUAL.STY the horn track will load.
Sure thing. First on the piano track right click and in the drop down menu go to Select RealTracks and in the next menu go to select RealTracks. This should bring up the RealTracks picker Up in the top left of the RealTracks picker is listed all of the RealTracks in the song next to Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar. Next to Strings it says 2642 Piano Tango Ev 100. If the Radial button next to piano is not already selected select it now. Just below this and before the list of RealTracks are two buttons, one says None, the other says Clear All. Press the None button to remove the piano track and then close the RealTracks picker. Now if you assign the style SENSUAL from the style picker the horn section will appear.
