I thought I was beginni9ng to understand Band in a Box, but now realise that I actually don't. The question I have I'm almost too embarrassed to ask because it will show up my lack of knowledge. But here goes.
Since my upgrade to the 2021 version I decided to audition some of the new songs. I was particularly interested in tracks that would have a fingerpicking guitar in them. So I loaded some of the songs that did contain a finger picking guitar instrument. When I generated the song and then solo'd the fingerpicking instrument, I hear nothing!
Now, I assumed that if an instrument was loaded onto a track then that instrument would play according to the style chosen as well as the chord sheet sequence of the song. At least I've always got it to work that way.
Then I thought it might be the way that RealTracks work that I don't understand. So I chose some midi only styles for the same song and re-generated and, sure enough, all the midi instruments are singing their little heads of as, I believe, they interpret the chords as C7 patterns.
But maybe I'm wrong on both counts and need to go back and study that manual.
Any help would be gratefully received please.

I think your understanding of what you should be able to do is correct.
From your description, I wonder if you are even hearing audio. It sounds like you are just hearing MIDI. If so, we need to know a few things:
What Build are you using? Help, About will tell you. Lots of patches have been issued.
In the Audio settings, what driver? ASIO, WAS, or MME?
What is your audio device for playback?
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Slate VSX, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Thank you for such a prompt reply. It's not all the RealTracks that are causing this problem. Here is the detail you asked for.
I'm using:
Version - 2021, build 804
Audio Settings - ASIO Focusrite USB
Playback Device - Focusrite Scarlett Solo
Like I said, it's not all the tracks, only the occasional RealTrack. Below is the memo for a song chosen from the list. The track with no output is the Guitar 2 track which is:

apologies if this dont work for you cos i'm on 2020 version.
and assuming the menu hasnt changed, ive used 522 quite a bit in songs. i'm assuming from your post you cant hear 522.
tell me if this works.
1. right clik over radio button for guitar 2.
where 522 should be.
2. go to trak actions >>>> regenerate.
do you see 522 listed against regenerate ?
if you DO , clik regenerate. do you now hear 522 ??
if 522 isnt listed against regenerate in the menu.
is it listed in the realtraks picker when you enter 522 in search ?

Updating to the current public build 813 should correct this issue for you.
BIAB 2025:RB 2025, Latest builds: Dell Optiplex 7040 Desktop; Windows-10-64 bit, Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz CPU and 16 GB Ram Memory.

Thank you for your prompt and helpful reply.
I did as you said and can see the 522 and regenerated, but did hear anything. The 522 was also listed on the RealTracks list.
But ... this is the annoying thing. When I first loaded this song all the tracks were frozen and I could only hear the drums. When I unfroze the tracks and regenerated I could hear all the tracks except the 522.
After your reply I loaded the song again, still in the frozen state. I unfroze each track, one at a time and I could hear the re-generated tracks of those that had been unfrozen, but not the 522. It was only when I finally unfroze the last track (Bass) and re-generated that I could now hear the 522. But also, previously I had simply unfrozen the tracks and regenerated and still didn't hear the 522.
So I'm not sure if there is something going on with regard to the unfreezing of the tracks.
I'm just relieved that it is operating the way I thought it was meant to.

Are the updates cumulative? I noticed that there was an update for build 808. Yes when you update to the most current build you get all the updates prior to that. They skip numbers as they test and build internally. As you check the support site you can see the builds that have been released.
My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.
