I haven’t experimented with this in BIAB yet but I do remember from other experiments that you should set all the digital devices in your system to the same bit and sample rate. Then adjust your software the same.

Since 16-bit recording can reproduce more than the frequency range humans can hear, I suspect there is no audible difference in playback. That assumes no compression anywhere. I also base that on the fact that audio is dithered down to 16-bit playback for CDs.
