Hi,

In Latin music the |1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2| feel over 1/8th notes in 4/4 is a rhumba (or rumba). While this doesn't have the rock feel that you want, there is an acoustic bass for rhumba (RT#916) that might be useful for you in building your own style.

I'd also look for some rock drum loops with that feel. I imagine that they are out there on the net somewhere.

When you're arranging this, it's highly likely that if you have one or two instruments playing the 3-3-2 pattern and the others playing standard 4/4, it will sound fine. The song by Coldplay has this 3-3-2/4-4 crossover feel.

Just some idle thinking...

Regards,
Noel
