I believe BIAB is a great tool especially for Jazz musicians who would like to improve their skills and also create little demos for their students or themselves to play on but since PGMusic started this software which is I believe aprx. 25 years, there are some very basic features that are missing for a Jazz musician to create a demo or play-along track especially regarding soloist features.
- A dedicated Solo break feature
- An option to Ignore shots and Holds for the realtrack solos
- Creating solos on specific bars multiple times so that you don't have to hustle muting the multiple bars yourself one by one. Currently creating a soloist on a specific bar deletes the one you did before because Soloist button doesnt let you do it to a different track on the mixer...
- Creating Trade 4s 8s on a specific section of a song. This simple function is not there for some reason and you have to accept the fact that all your solo will consist of trade 4s 8s...
- Adding an option to realtime record buttons such as mute, solo and volume so that you can almost use it as a sequencer instead of importing each track separately to a DAW then doing those. This function should also help for the previous matter where you could use mute button where you want your soloist to do fill-ins or trade 4s 8s etc...
- A dedicated Ritardando feature for the arrangement. There is fade-out which improved efficiency a lot expecting the same for this feature...
I regularly use BIAB to create play-alongs for my students who are mainly vocalists. And these are the main problems I see apart from the occasional realtracks bugs such as not following the holds shots and endings and creating a silence for that instrument instead...
This post could be directed to feature requests section but some of the matters could be bug related or some users might have found very efficient work-arounds that's why I am posting it here wink
I would appreciate any feedback smile
