How sad is that?

If ever there was an album that summed up all the great contributions of Trane, McCoy Tyner and Hancock: Now he Sings..., was the thing.

His recent trio with Brian Blade was really abstract, but bristling with energy and youth.

And who can forget the akoustic band with Patitucci and Weckl?

Apart from some of the kitsch and some weird ideas, he had a wonderful sense of humor. His song and band announcements were often hilarious and displayed a humble and passionate musician.

I dig his version of round midnight on the ECM trio record. A really special version.
