A MIDI guitar controller normally assigns each string to it's own MIDI channel.
In Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E, or Options > Preferences to open the Preferences window. Then select the MIDI File button to open the MIDI File Options window.
The MIDI File Options window has two relevant settings; Include Guitar Position Controller and Write Guitar part on 6 channels.
The Guitar Part Controller assigns fret position.
