Welcome to the forums, Tuneslayer! What Mac OS are you running and the Band-in-a-Box build you are using? You can check for the build number under Help | About Band-in-a-Box. It will say at the top Version 2020 and a number in brackets and that number is your build number.
We were testing and found MIDI instruments on the Melody track were not following patch change instructions from the bar settings in build 423. This is a bug and we will report it to our development team.
There is only one Melody and one soloist track in the 2020 version and earlier. But you can change your other individual instrument tracks to other instruments if you wish, or add more instruments if the Style does not utilize all of the instrument tracks.
