Sounds to me like you want to import a melody line and then have BIAB generate a chord progression based on that melody line. Is that correct?

If so, yes BIAB can do that (sort of), but I don't think you're going to be very happy with the results. It's better to find a MIDI file that already has accompaniment (and perhaps the melody) and bring that into BIAB. BIAB will do a much better job of figuring out the correct chord progression. The problem with just using a melody line is that there are so many different chord options when you're basing it on single notes, and the resulting chord progression may not sound very good.

One thing you might want to try in this case is Microsoft SongSmith.
