Hello, I'm using BiaB 2021 build v825. Since updating to 825, I'm noticing that I cannot change the MIDI instrument (patch) in my melody track. I've tried it on a few different songs, each with the same result.
I'm using the default VSTi/DXi Synth (Coyote WT) and my output driver is Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. I've not changed any of these settings lately.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Are you doing the patch changes in the Bar Settings or the Piano Roll?
It appears to be working in both during our test. Please try going to Options | Return to Factory Settings and see if it works afterwards.

It appears to be working in both during our test. Please try going to Options | Return to Factory Settings and see if it works afterwards. Hi Chantelle, thanks for your reply. I'm not doing either of those - I am just trying to change the patch in the mixer. Would you still suggest I try a factory reset? (and will I lose any other settings if I do this?) Many thanks Mike

Well it works ok here both 64 and 32bit versions. 2021 ver 825.
Note you can not set a midi instrument patch in the melody track unless it contains some midi data (notes) . once you have notes in there chose you patch. The melody track will now take on the name of the instrument instead of just reading melody.

This is also correct. For a quick test you can go to Melody | Melodist - Generate Melody and/or Chords. Then click on your Melody track in the mixer and go to Select MIDI Instrument (Patch) | Select General MIDI Patch. Here you should be able to change your MIDI instrument entirely. For future reference if you ever need it, there are two options when you select Return to Factory Settings, Most and All. Most will retain your audio and MIDI device settings so that you do not have to redo those in the Preferences. This is a good option if you are using an audio interface or a MIDI keyboard.

Thanks for your replies.
Yes of course the melody track needs MIDI data and I can confirm that all of these songs do. The mixer shows the correct patch name, but it does not play that instrument. Whatever I select, the sound is always piano.
I tried a factory reset ("all") but it didn't make any difference.
I've tried changing some settings in the MIDI/audio driver set up, but that didn't make any difference either.
Edit: I did try generating a new melody as well - still sounded like a piano.

Well that sounds like you do not have gm synth loaded.
Just try using the basic coyote wave table as you default vst/ dxi and tick the box use vsti/dxi in midi/ audio settings do not put a tick in route midi thru to midi driver.
Note
Do not use the coyote forte synth this is a different thing.
