I used to work with a drummer that used a Shure SM35 headset mic on an XLR cable. (not wireless) It worked well and sounded nice. Despite it sort of bouncing around in front of his mouth the sound level was smooth and consistent and no excess noise. He positioned it a little to one side so he could not blow directly on it with his nose or mouth.
