Where are you connecting your headphones to listen? It should be the Scarlet 2i2 headphone jack so you can hear the audio to the computer from the Scarlet and from the computer to the Scarlet without latency or the time it takes for audio to be processed and travel. Does the Scarlet have enough audio inputs for both your microphone and iPad?

I would use a small outboard USB mixer. You would want at least 5 inputs for (1) (mono) your microphone (dynamic or condenser?), (2) (stereo line-ins) your iPad and (3) (stereo digital) your computer audio. The (stereo digital) audio output would return to your computer, most likely through the same USB connection.

You can find small USB mixers marketed for podcasting in many places online including Guitar Center, WalMart, Best Buy and Amazon. The trick is in making sure the device has the kind of connections (line-in, high impedance, phantom power and so on) to work with the devices you want to attach.
