I had the pleasure of seeing Poco play live just one time in the early 70's. They were the second band on the ticket with Foghat opening the show and Johnny Winter as the headliner.

Foghat was a brand new band, having just released their I just wanna make love to you hit, and still retaining a large number of Savoy Brown tunes on their set list. Poco played second and I believe was improperly booked with 2 heavy duty rock and roll bands. The audience didn't appear to appreciate Poco's laid back country style, vocal harmonies, and steel guitar. The audience started throwing trash and firecrackers onto the stage. In the middle of the third song, one firecracker went off particularly close to one of the band members and Poco stopped playing in the middle of the song and walked off the stage. The MC came out and chastised the audience for being such arses. Poco refused to return. Johnny Winter came out early, and with his band mate and songwriter Rick Derringer, rocked the crowd with an extra long set to make up the difference.

Good show, but a sad thing that Poco walked off.... but I can't blame them. They were exceptionally good, and the audience missed a great show as a result of a few arses in the audience.
