Once again I'd like to thank Peter Gannon and all of the good folks at PG music for making the additions in the bluegrass styles to include 8th note styles along with the 16th note styles.
That makes it so much easier to work with the bluegrass styles. Now you can take a piece of sheet music for bluegrass and enter it in 8th notes as it is written without having to accommodate for styles that were just written in 16th notes only.
That's outstanding customer service!

Yay!
And we thank you for keeping the topic alive and explaining its importance. This affects other genres, too.

Hopefully when BIAB 2022 comes out, any new Bluegrass and Samba styles will have both 16th and 8th based real styles.
I also wanted to ask Mr. Gannon on what the status is of for the utility to convert any bluegrass style. You added this to the TO DO list 10 years ago and it never materialized.
"Two things stick out in re-reading these old threads.
1. From PG Music themselves: From Mr. Gannon: "We should have a converter, that takes any style and changes it (save-as) from 8th note based to 16th (or vice versa). Then all of the bluegrass styles would be available as 8th or 16th. I'll add that to the to do list."
This was back in 2010. Ten years later, we still don't have this 'converter' they were going to put on the To Do list."

I played in bluegrass bands for 35 years ... what’s a piece of sheet music? Indeed. I think this is true for the majority of genres. In all the years I played in bands, we never had sheet music. I do have a collection of old 60's sheet music for the pop songs and I learned that the music on the sheets is often not the same music you heard on the record. I need to find that collection and frame a few of the classics. Wall hangers for the studio.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

The other day there was a video posted about the 20 most important inventions in music. Notation was number 1. Someone appreciates it.

Are you suggesting my attempt at humor was an abject failure? There is ample precedent!

I've never used sheet music or TAB to play music but I do sometimes use it to learn songs.
If you go out and buy a fictional songbook titled "100 Classic Fiddle Tunes" you'll find that it's a 99.9% chance it's written in 4/4 time with 8th note melodies. With the 8th note styles you can then quickly program the backup tracks into BIAB by simply following the sheet music, (aka chord chart), measure by measure.
You'll then have good backup tracks to use while learning the melody and working out your own arrangements for variations on the melody.
Edit; You could probably program all 100 backing tracks inside of a week now that the note values, (aka measure values), are correct. Even if you'd never heard any of the songs.

My jokes aside I might mention that we were offered and signed a Crucial Music contract via submitting an all BiaB RealTrack instrumental bluegrass composition. CM says, in effect, that if they sign you then you will receive a major placement. The contract was about 15' long ... then there was the non-disclosure agreement Bud
