For other users who come across this, MME and ASIO combination tend to work well, though depending on your computer hardware WAS and ASIO may work better, and for others any use of ASIO will knock out every other app. This is dependent on the audio driver - for example, my Focusrite ASIO driver (for a Scarlett 2i2 version 3) allows ASIO in multiple apps, or any combination of ASIO, MME, or WAS, but my Avid Mbox2 needs MME to work concurrently with ASIO in another app.
