This is another older song of mine that I pulled the vocals off the original recording and put a new BiaB track with...it is so much fun to hear these old recordings given new life with BiaB...hope you enjoy.

FLYHIGH.STY Fly High Ethereal Country Ballad
366 Bass
Drums Nashville even 16
3344 Electric Guitar
364 Acoustic Guitar

I added a piano track with a Yamaha Genos and mixed and mastered on Cubase Pro 11

Hi, Dan.

Pretty ballad, nice arrangement. Lovely vocals. And excellent lyrics.

Darned it, you're making run out of adjectives!

The piano transition at 1:14 could be handled with a touch more finesse. There are some artifacts at 3:14 on the vocal, but I guess that's the nature of the software. I'm guessing you can't clone and transpose a syllable from somewhere else in the song... cry

I enjoyed this a lot! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Man, that's a pretty neat trick, Dan. What another great use of the software. Did you redo the harmony or pull them for the original, too? It's amazing how well it sounds. A fine production of a good song. What a wonderful voice you have.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Dan,

This is an absolutely beautiful song. Very well written, and so true! I can see why this one has been used at many friend's funerals. What a hopeful song to minister to those who are in grief. A reminder of eternity.

Your vocals are great, the harmonies are really strong. Kinda reminds me of some of the Gatlin Brothers stuff from years ago. The transpose up really lifts the song. And I like the changes from minors to majors as well.

Good job!

Steve

David...thanks so much for your generous comments...I knew you'd catch the glitches (you have a great ear) and I appreciate your attention to detail...SpectraLayers has its limitations probably due to the amateur recordings I'm pulling this stuff from...the phrase at 1:09 "from this blind WORLD I've known" is driving me crazy (shocked you didn't catch it) and I can't fix it...it's like the word "WORLD" was recorded on a different planet...at 3:14 I may try to fix with some overdubs...the problem is my voice at 70 years old is not the the same as my voice at 45 and overdubs don't fit in as well anymore (plus I can't hit the notes!!)

Anyway I really appreciate your insights...Thanks
Dan

Marty...Thanks for your gracious comments...todays software is fantastic...I literally have hundreds of recordings that I wish I had better tracks on and now I just pull the vocals off older stuff, sync it to a BPM and BiaB and I start our recoding session...if I think the band sucks, I just bring in the next one...it's amazing...and yes Steinberg SpectraLayers Pro 7 pulls the lead and harmonies all off together mixed just the way it was originally onto one stereo track...it will also separate piano, drums and bass to separate tracks with a final track of any other instruments that are left...it's not perfect but most artifacts can be hidden in your next BiaB mix.

Hey thanks again.
Dan

Steve...thanks for your comments...I listened to some of your songs yesterday and I am humbled that you liked mine...your music is top notch...the Gatlin's are in my Top 3 groups of all time along with The Eagles and The Little River Band...I covet their harmonies and musical style...if you're from Texas well you understand...I actually wrote this song for my own funeral...some might think that morbid but this song is my heart and last will and testament...too heavy...anyway thank you so much for your kind words and thanks for listening...I was serious about the prayers for you and your wife...best regards...Dan
