Except that when Apple issues software updates (like the pending 10.6.3 one) it tends to break Hackintoshes. Plus a lot of PC audio components tend not to work correctly. Like WiFi cards. Or Graphics cards in a PC laptop.

Any if you look at the prices, you aren't paying much more. If you figure in the long term costs of a PC with Antivirus subscriptions, registry cleaners, etc etc, the extra $100 or $200 you spend on Apple hardware is well worth the $100 or $200 you spent on a Hackintosh plastic crappy laptop. PLUS if stuff goes wrong (which it hardly does), you can take it to an Apple store, and they will happily help you. Or even fix it if you have Applecare.

Oh, and did I mention it is illegal to run OS X on non-Apple hardware? You might want to google a company called Pystar and see how they faired.....(not well)
