We'll Understand it Better By and By A little more current; but still qualifies as a Fusion Hymn Final verse and chorus pushed it to 5:00. Overdone?? R-16 built in effect seems to work. Too much? Thx, all. (_BENTS85.STY Slow Swing Bent-Note Piano)

Thanks, Scott. Hope it wasn't too much effect on the guitar. There are several R-16 effects but only one speed. Hey, Firesong. That is slow swing bent piano with piano real tracks by John Jarvis and Brent Mason guitar. (_BENTS85.STY Slow Swing Bent-Note Piano) with Nashville Swing8 Drums. Pretty much straight out of the Box. I rip the audio into the DAW right off the BIAB Mixer, riding the levels, taking care to raise and lower the piano and guitar levels as deemed tasteful until the backing track has been achieved. Still learning, experimenting, and improvising. I find the styles of Charlie Rich, Floyd Kramer, and Jerry Lee (the gospel, not the hard stuff) to be appropriate extensions of that 19th and early 20th century fusion of the various spirited gospel and country gospel genres. Thanks for the comment.

A really good mix on this beauty, Ed. Well sung, and tasteful instruments.

Good one Ed. It is long but it's perfect for a church service where people are coming up front for whatever reason (communion, blessings, etc.).

I'm on the fence about the guitar. It's better to make a bold statement and fail than a lukewarm one and succeed. The piano seems a bit further back in the mix than I'd prefer. Longish, and I expected one more round of the chorus after the guitar solo. Not a complaint - again, defying expectations isn't bad. I sound like I've got nothing but complaints, but nothing could be further from the truth - I enjoyed this!

Thanks for the insights, gents. On target. Truth is, I ran out of time with this on account of breaking in a new workflow. I did want to feature the guitar for demo purposes, but didn't have 5:00 in mind. Same goes for the soft piano. The decision was whether of not to remix was based on time/energy. The way I am working, the BAIB track levels are established in the initial transfer. I know that can create future problems, but so far I have not been able to find any way to improve on the BIAB fidelity right off the mixer, other than to adjust levels to suit the anticipated performance. For me, that means lowering the drums, inching down the bass, and riding the solos as needed. Like most everyone here, I usually have specific objectives going in, meaning, paying attention to certain things that listeners would not know about.

Well done Ed. Yet another hymn by you that we both remember from childhood.
I like the arrangement and in particular the piano.
Enjoyed it!

Thanks, J&B. It's hard to go wrong with John Jarvis Real tracks, but occasionally luck produces exceptional matchups. If I listen carefully and ride the levels, the result can be striking. Don't even want to ask how they do it. (Your sites are looking good!)
