Thanks for the insights, gents. On target. Truth is, I ran out of time with this on account of breaking in a new workflow. I did want to feature the guitar for demo purposes, but didn't have 5:00 in mind. Same goes for the soft piano. The decision was whether of not to remix was based on time/energy. The way I am working, the BAIB track levels are established in the initial transfer. I know that can create future problems, but so far I have not been able to find any way to improve on the BIAB fidelity right off the mixer, other than to adjust levels to suit the anticipated performance. For me, that means lowering the drums, inching down the bass, and riding the solos as needed.
Like most everyone here, I usually have specific objectives going in, meaning, paying attention to certain things that listeners would not know about.
