Hi. I'm a relatively new user to BIAB and wondered if there was a way to background highlight chord boxes / cells bars in a particular colour to more easily differentiate Intro; Verse; Chorus etc? For example - background to intro may be Blue; verses are shown with a red background. Bridge - Yellow etc...

It seems that would make it easier (for me certainly) to navigate the song.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Simple and quick answer is No.

If I may be so presumptuous, may I suggest you work on recognizing the different sections of the song by the Chords. Each chord tone does have a different color with practice you can recognize it by hearing, not seeing, the different colors. So when the C Major comes in after the intro you can hear it, that is the your sensory que you need to develop.

You can right-click on the cell as shown and add Bar-Based Section Letters, which you could use to mark different parts of the song (Chorus, Verse, etc).

Hi Dan, Thanks for your reply. I do hear where the verse and choruses are - I've been playing for 40+ years so it's something I've developed. wink

I just thought that when the piece becomes quite lengthy, it would be useful to have a visual clue too. Probably just me! Ha!

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply. Thanks again

Colin

Colin, I have no doubt that your skills are well developed.

Was the other idea of using Bar-Based section letters helpful? I know it's not exactly what you were hoping to find, but possibly a workaround?

Hi - I have literally just been trying your suggestion. It certainly makes it easier (for me anyway) to delineate where Verses / Choruses begin and end at a glance - which is helpful. Thank you for that.

I'm still sort of convinced that being able to colour / color the individual cells, or a group of cells could be useful to folks other than me. But then... I've been wrong before!

Still... I'd really like to thank you for taking the time to suggest a work around. It is going to be helpful.

Colin, glad I could assist.

However, you may consider also adding your request to the Wishlist Section. The company just might deliver such a request. I would certainly support it.

I can't believe BIAB has been out for 3 decades
and hasn't implemented a colour-coded system yet.
I know it isn't a DAW, but there's a reason nearly all DAWs allow colour coding. being able to customize with colours certainly speeded up my workflow. And, not only that, but It's also a godsend for people with impaired vision.
My songs tend to be quite long, and the more info on the screen the more the eye strain, especially with it being all the same colour, IMO.
A dark mode would be great, also

BIAB has these options. They can be placed in any measure, not only at the beginning of a line.

Are you referring to part markers, or to be able to change the color of each chord cell?
You can certainly change the color of the chord cells with Display Options, as shown:

Yes, as shown in your screenshot, I was referring to the cells. I've been using biab for around 6 months now and didn't notice those settings. My bad.
What a great, helpful community this is, thanks again.
