One thing about Utility tracks to take note of, is while you can record MIDI tracks to them and click on the track and select "Select RealTracks" in the menu to generate a RealTrack, they cannot be clicked on to choose and generate a MIDI track. Instead a MIDI track would need to be generated on one of the main legacy tracks, then copy/pasted to the Utility track. Good point, Chantelle. The functionality delivered by the Utility tracks is continuing to be developed. It is hoped that it will eventually have identical functionality to the original tracks.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
