I have just had my PC windows xp/3 reinstalled after it had been running very slowly.
This time I thought I would like to install my BIAB and music files directly to a mobile hard drive (size 40gbs) is this possible on load up and keep it off my main drive C of computer? Or does some registry files etc. get on to my main hard drive. If so is there any benefit in having biab on the mobile HD?

Hi John,
It is all according to what version of BIAB you are using as 40Gb is rather small and will not hold BIAB 10 and all the RealTrack etc size we now have - using only Midi is much much smaller
Having BIAB on an external drive takes the load off the computer allowing it to operate faster
You have to register on your main drive the items that must be there - but one way would be to install the whole lot on the main drive and then move the bb folder to your external hard drive making sure that the program points to the main drive

Hello Brian, and thanks for your reply.
It appears my latest disk is 2008.5 and patches (Not yet reinstalled)
I do also have another larger external drive with around 300gb of free space but it is rather cluttered with folders I have saved over the last three years and thought it would be nice and tidy to just use a 40gb module I also have.
So I think I will try your advice and install to my C drive and then just move the bb file over to the small one first, I havent got involved with real tracks and drums much because my PC speaking system is only basic.
BTW I am now a Tyros2 owner with harddrive on that as well.

Hello again Jazzman.
I installed the 2008 disk and then went to my C drive and located bb folder, I then requested it send bb to my external drive.
This it did but I still have the original bb folder also at C.
Should I have done a CUT or can I delete the bb folder now from C drive?

I don't know what a CUT is, but yes, if you need the space, you could now delete the entire /BB folder on drive C.
