Hi All,

First time here so hello to the community!

I just myself a Presonus AudioBox and so far it's really great bar one thing....

If I am watching a youtube vid, using DAW or playing an audio file for example and allow the audio to stop it will not work again without either changing the output device in Windows(works 6/10 times) or unplugging/plugging in the usb of the interface(always works). Never stops while in use and is otherwise perfect but as I said in the title, it's like the device is sleeping when not in use and won't wake properly.

Windows at all times sees the device and has it set as audio output without any issues.

Any tips or a fix would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

MR COX. YMMV.
has your pc ever been optimised for studio work ?
IF NOT it could be many possible reasons.
read these optimisation links includeing power management aspects. best bet if your not au fait with pc tech get a qualified pc tech to read these links before doing anything. tread carefully re any pc changes.
it might be simple it might not.
pay carefull attention also to running dpc latency check mentioned in first link. low dpc figures are important for studio work.

here are some optimisation links for your pc tech /IT guy.
https://audient.com/tutorial/optimise-your-windows-pc-for-audio/

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=654005
see you tube for even more optimising tips. HTH//ymmv.

frankly i would contact presonus support.
scouring useing google i noticed people with audiobox sometimes had an issue.
just google presonus audiobox goes to sleep (what model do you have ?)

without details of your rig and its various settings in win and the audiobox control panel for recording and playback (post pics of settings please )its difficult to comment further.

one possible means of resolution is to try a different sound device and see if same problem happens.

best

1-Right click on start then click on device manager.
2-click on Universal Serial Bus Controller
3-click on any USB hub then click on Power management
4-Make sure the there is no check mark on "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" then click OK
5-repeat 3 and 4 for every USB hub on your system.

This will keep the power on to all of your USB hubs, i.e. no more shutting them down.

Note that sometimes a Win 10 update will change them back so you may have to periodically reset them.

I've attached you one more setting that you might want to review.

Of course, all of them are mentioned here: Maximizing Windows PC audio performance .PDF

Definitely set the USB power.

I did not see any mention of drivers. If you are using ASIO in BIAB and you have another software that takes exclusive control of the ASIO, it could cause what you are experiencing. The easiest remedy is to use the MME driver for BIAB, and save the ASIO choice for your DAW that needs less latency for recording.

I've read that guide and many like it. There is no mention of using MME, and you quoted me out of context.

The OP did not mention BIAB, but did refer to a randomness of programs allowing or not allowing sound. Programs that only play back audio do not need ASIO drivers, when you have another program like a DAW open concurrently that does.
