In my opinion the entire gulf coast which I love has been ruined with all the hurricanes and insurance company greed.

Yeah, at what comparable cost? In addition to our higher premiums we have a "hurricane deductible" which is unreasonable for the average person. Sure a tree can fall on your house from all kinds of weather anywhere but I don't think other places get to add a deductible that equals 2 to 5% of your home value that you must pay before the insurance will cover the reminder of damages. And no ocean view here.

We are considering relocating from the yearly stress and cost of it all after 15 years of dealing with evacuations, damage to our home, rate hikes, etc. In the meantime praying we don't get another one for a couple of years at least.

Unless you've got a mighty good nest egg, I'd check out any gulf coast spot really well. The hurricanes have affected the cost of living all across the region, not just Florida.
