Thanks for reporting this Jeff. I had not heard of the controversy. +++ HERE +++ is a clarification announcement. All data collection is opt-in voluntary. The program checks for updates and reports crashes. MUSE may have wanted to collect and sell data but apparently has abandoned that idea. Many programs collect data on an opt-in basis to check for updates or as part of a crash report. It's really nothing new, only that Audacity has joined the club.

David, V3.02 is the current release. Per the articles linked above the developer announced data collection would start with V3.03 however now the developer is saying data collection will be opt-in.
