heres a shot in the dark. just a suspicion.
is there a setting you have to turn on to make the keyboard send midi over usb ?

one thing you might do OUTSIDE OF ANY MUSIC SOFTWARE LIKE BIAB OR CAKE is run a piece of software called a midi monitor on your pc...(google FREE MIDI MONITOR.)
if you see data IS getting from keyboard then its a setting in the music software.
