It seems like it should be really easy. It is.

Here's the steps:

. Import a Midi file
. Use the sequencer to determine the channels
. Check in options to determine the BIAB defaults for midi patches
. Use the command Edit\Copy Special..\Copy/Move to select the midi patches, source track and destination track

Just follow the menu prompts and it just takes a minute or so to set up the tracks. I just tested it on my system and everything worked fine. Be sure to freeze the tracks to preserve the midi notes or BIAB will overwrite them when you generate.
