I can get a radio ready song out of a pro Nashville studio for $1200 to $1500. Cost more in LA and more in London. I never recorded in New York so have no idea.
There is a lot of serious rip off crap that goes on in that world. Matt Finley knows about New York. Be careful and ask people you trust before you spend you hard earned money plus you need to know all the legal ramifications which are not simple. If you are doing something serious you need to get a music business lawyer.
