Agreed, though Pipeline's suggestion is honestly pretty smart It certainly is. Yet I regard myself more a musician than a technician or a programmer, and all these tricks to make the program run the way I need it to only lead me away from that. Also I find the plugin mode frustratingly slow. ThorstenV, your response is a great post and one worthy of serious consideration by the developers. I do hope it gets some traction.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
